By now, you have probably seen the every day or so posting by CDD requesting donations of computers for its "mission of donating computers and offering computer training to minorities and low income groups and individuals in the community." You have also probably seen posting by one or more individual(s) (not me) questioning whether CDD is a legitimate charity and whether CDD's Executive Director is the most upstanding person.

I recommend that you carefully review the facts to determine whether or not to contribute to CDD. If--after you do your necessary research--you determine that CDD legitimate, then you should absolutely support CDD through your donations of goods, services and money.

I recommend, however, that your research start with a review of CDD's website (see http://www.cddnp.org). I would then recommend that you review this website ( http://www.tbns.net/kathleenpatton/index.html), plus conduct a search of the Los Angeles County Superior Court website ( http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/civilCaseSummary/index.asp?CaseType=Civil ) for the specific case names listed on the http://www.tbns.net/kathleenpatton/index.html website. You should also review whether or not CDD is actually a non-profit organization after contacting the California Attorney General's office and the IRS.

I can't make the decision for you, but it is important that you carefully consider the facts before you make a final decision.
